Halloween Party Games for Adults with Simple House Rules

Choose six Halloween party games for adults indoors, with simple house rules, supplies, group sizes and a 45-minute plan. Play every activity without alcohol.

6 min read

Pick Halloween party games for adults around the people who will play. Clues suit a seated group. Drawing needs a table; mime needs room for an actor. Start with something newcomers can join, then gather everyone for a game with a clear finish.

The six activities below use original house rules. We checked the current FunBox instructions linked here. Group sizes and timings are suggested budgets, including explanations and handovers. They are not measured results. Every activity works without alcohol.

Choose a game by group size and available space

For Halloween party games for adults indoors, check where people can sit and whether they want to perform. Offer drawing or guessing roles to anyone who would rather stay seated. For more than twelve players, split into smaller groups and use the same house rules.

Run a themed clue and impostor round

For Haunted witness, a nonplaying host writes the same secret word on all but one card. The remaining card says Visitor and gives no word. Fold and shuffle them. Ghost is one possible answer. Each player reads privately, then gives one short clue. The visitor listens and tries to sound convincing.

For Ghost, someone might say they never hear footsteps. After one circuit, allow two minutes of discussion, then vote for one suspect. Discuss and vote again if tied; break a second tie by drawing one tied name from the bowl. Reveal the cards. Catch the visitor and the word players win; choose somebody else and the visitor wins. Keep the word secret until the reveal.

To let everyone play, use the FunBox Impostor game with 3 to 12 people on one shared phone. One player gets no word; everyone else gets the same word. It currently has no Halloween category or custom word import. Use its ordinary words with a spooky clue rule, or use paper for a specific seasonal answer. Our impostor rules guide explains the phone handoff.

Prepare a custom Halloween word bingo

Open the Bingo Card Generator and choose Custom words. Enter 24 to 200 distinct items, one per line, each up to 60 characters. Build the list from costumes, decorations and creatures. Pumpkin or cape shows the style. Prepare the full list before guests arrive.

Generate one card per player, up to twelve in a batch, and print them. Each has a free center. Copy the entries onto slips, shuffle them in a bowl, and keep called slips separate. Custom mode has no automatic word caller, so the host reads each draw aloud.

Players mark matching squares. Stop at the first row, column or diagonal, and check it against the called slips. Accept simultaneous valid lines as joint wins. If ten minutes pass first, compare marked squares excluding the center and allow a tie. Keep the printed set ready because leaving or refreshing clears the page.

Use a paper drawing or mime challenge

For Monster sketch, divide into two teams. Give each team three turns of sixty seconds, alternating teams and changing artists. Write six paper prompts beforehand, such as a vampire brushing its teeth or a ghost carrying groceries. The artist draws without letters or numbers. A correct guess earns one point; an unanswered card earns zero. Anyone may pass and score that turn zero.

The Pictionary Word Generator supplies ordinary prompts when you need a backup. Use your prepared slips for seasonal scenes. Our drawing game guide covers the basic setup.

For Silent haunt, use the same six-turn schedule with acting instead of drawing. Try a witch parking a broom or a mummy opening a stuck door. Allow no speech or sound effects. Give one point per correct answer and keep tied totals tied. The charades rules guide explains gestures; the current Charades tool has ordinary categories and cannot import these slips.

Keep two easy Halloween group games ready

Doorway dilemmas needs three choices on paper. Would you share a lift with a silent vampire or a chatty ghost? For the next votes, choose between a dancing skeleton and a singing zombie as a neighbour, then between a haunted attic and a werewolf taxi ride. Take raised hands and invite one volunteer from each side to explain. People can pass. Finish after three votes, with no score.

For Potion pitch, make pairs and one trio if needed. Give each four imaginary ingredients, moonlight, squeaky shoes, invisible ink and hiccups. Allow one minute to invent a potion, then thirty seconds per group to describe its name and effect. Vote once for the funniest pitch, allowing joint winners. Keep ingredients imaginary; nobody needs to mix or taste anything.

Combine three activities into a 45-minute party

For six to eight adults, prepare the materials before anyone arrives and use this suggested schedule. Keep the countdown timer visible and check sound beforehand. A muted or sleeping device can silence or delay its alert.

Which games work while guests are still arriving?

Doorway dilemmas lets newcomers join the next question. Wait until everyone is seated before dealing secret roles. A late arrival can watch and join the next round. Hand out bingo cards before calling words so everybody hears the same draws.

Can these games be played without alcohol?

Yes. These Halloween party games without drinking use guesses, points or votes to finish. Nobody takes a drinking penalty. Guests can also pass on a question or performance and join the next activity. To prepare a seated game, make a themed bingo set before the party.
