Online Stopwatch

Start the clock, record each lap, and keep the whole session in view.

Ready · Hours : minutes : seconds

00:00:00.00

Hundredths of a second

Ready to start.

Pause freezes the total; Resume continues it. Reset clears the total and every lap.

Lap times

0 / 200 laps

Start the stopwatch, then press Lap to record a split without stopping the clock.

Timing continues when you switch tabs while the page stays open. Browser or device suspension can interrupt timing, so keep the device awake for long sessions. Refreshing or leaving this page clears the stopwatch and laps.

Using this tool

Count up from zero

Start begins an elapsed-time measurement. Pause freezes the total, and resume continues from that total. Reset clears the clock and recorded laps. If you need an alert after a set duration, use the countdown timer instead.

Read lap time and total time separately

A lap records the time since the preceding lap alongside the total elapsed time. Use it to compare repeated activity rounds or individual turns. Paused time is excluded. Copy the lap list before reloading the page if you need to keep your measurements.

Use full screen for a shared display

Full screen makes the clock easier to see across a table or room. If native full screen is unavailable, an enlarged full-page view opens instead. Use the exit button or Escape to return. The clock and lap records are preserved.

Understand browser timing limits

The display derives elapsed time from a monotonic browser clock rather than adding one tick at a time. This avoids ordinary interval drift when rendering slows down. Device sleep, operating-system suspension and browser restrictions can still affect timing. Keep the device awake for a session and use dedicated equipment when certified timing matters.

Frequently asked questions

Does the stopwatch continue in a background tab?

Normal tab throttling does not make it count only the displayed ticks. It recomputes elapsed time when the page updates. Device sleep and suspension are different and are not guaranteed to behave consistently across browsers.

Are my lap times saved?

They stay in the current page session. Copy them before refreshing, closing the tab or resetting the stopwatch. They are not stored in a remote account.

Why is full screen unavailable on my device?

Native full-screen support depends on your browser and device. If it cannot be entered, the tool opens an enlarged full-page view with the same timer controls. Exit the view or press Escape to return.
