How to Make Bingo Cards with Your Own Words and Prompts
Learn how to make bingo cards with 30 word prompts. Compare list sizes, create different layouts and check A4 or Letter settings before printing at home.
To make custom word bingo cards, prepare at least 24 different entries, paste them one per line and generate a set. Each card gets 24 words around a free center. Print the cards, keep the full source list for the caller, and you have the materials for a word-calling game.
This guide follows the current FunBox Bingo Card Generator. The thirty original everyday-object prompts below give you a complete starter list. You can swap in your own theme while keeping the same preparation and printing steps.
Prepare at least 24 distinct short entries
Choose Custom words, then replace the sample text with your list. Put one entry on each line. The tool trims surrounding spaces, ignores empty lines and removes duplicates without regard to capitalization. Mug and mug therefore count as one item. Check the unique-item total after pasting.
Each entry can contain up to sixty characters, and the list must contain between 24 and 200 unique entries. Short phrases give the printed squares more breathing room. Keep one spelling for each object so the caller does not have to explain whether two similar labels mean the same thing.
Use these thirty prompts for an everyday-objects round. Enter one phrase per line; the table columns simply make the list easier to browse. Read through it before generating and replace any unfamiliar phrase.

| Garden glove | Water bottle | Postcard |

Choose the free center and card count
The free center is fixed in this generator. It occupies the middle square of every 5×5 card, leaving 24 spaces for your entries. You do not need to add FREE to the input list, and there is no switch for a card with twenty-five word squares.
The number of entries controls the selection pool. It does not change the grid size. Here is what happens at four useful list sizes.
| Unique entries | Words on one card | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| 24 | All 24 | Every card shares the same words in a different layout. |
| 25 | 24 of 25 | One entry is omitted from each card. |
| 30 | 24 of 30 | Six entries are omitted from each card. |
| 200 | 24 of 200 | Most of the source list is absent from any one card. |
Generate a set and check the card layouts
Set Number of cards to any whole number from one through twelve, then press Generate cards. For a first check, make two cards and compare them. Each should contain twenty-four distinct words, a free center and a different arrangement from the other card.
Why do different cards still share some words? Every card draws from the same source list. With thirty entries, each card uses twenty-four, so any two cards must share at least eighteen words. Different layouts can still produce different winning lines. The tool prevents identical layouts within a batch, without promising separate vocabularies.
Can you generate more than twelve cards in one batch? The limit is twelve. For a larger group, print or save the first batch before generating another. Card numbering starts again, so label the saved sets Batch A and Batch B. Layout uniqueness is checked within each batch; compare across batches yourself if every layout must be different.
Keep a separate copy of the source list. Generating again replaces the current cards and marks. Refreshing or leaving the page clears the custom text and game state, so save your printouts before moving on.
Print blank cards or save through browser print
After checking the cards, press Print all blank cards. The print layout gives each card its own page and omits marks made on screen. The middle square still says FREE. You can make bingo cards for free without an account or paid export. Physical paper and ink remain your own printing costs.
Use this checklist when you print bingo cards at home. Printer drivers and browser settings can change the preview, so inspect the output before printing the whole batch.
| Check | What to do |
|---|---|
| Paper size | Choose A4 or Letter to match the paper in your tray. |
| Orientation | Use portrait and inspect the bottom of the grid. |
| Scale | Start at 100 percent; reduce or fit to page if anything is clipped. |
| Margins and extras | Check all borders and disable browser headers and footers if they crowd the card. |
| Page count | Expect one page per card; print one test page first. |
| Save a copy | Choose Save as PDF when available and check the saved file before sharing. |
Call custom words manually and verify a winning line
Custom mode has no automatic word caller. Write every source entry on a slip, mix the slips in a bowl and move each drawn slip into a used pile. Read the whole phrase aloud. Keep the called slips visible so you can check a claim later.
For lists of up to 100 entries, you can also use Random Picker to choose an entry. It leaves selected entries in place, so remove each called item yourself and keep a separate call record. Use the final remaining entry directly. The picker and bingo cards do not synchronize.
For a simple house rule, let a complete row, column or diagonal win, with the free center already counting. Players mark only words that have been called. On screen, tap a square to mark it and tap again to correct it. The host checks every word in a claimed line against the call record.
With thirty entries, some calls will be missing from individual cards. That is expected. Keep calling from the full list until someone has a verified line. For a seasonal version after this practice round, the Halloween party games guide includes a themed bingo activity.
